International Open Call for Visual Artists

The OSTEN Biennial of Contemporary Visual Arts 2026 announces an open call for international visual artists working with innovative approaches and pushing the boundaries of traditional artistic frameworks. The biennial is organized by OSTEN and will take place in Skopje, North Macedonia.

The call is open to all techniques and media, including works on paper (drawing, printmaking, mixed media), 2D and 3D works (painting, objects, installations, textile art), as well as photography, video, and multimedia.

Eligibility: Individual artists over the age of 18 and artist groups (up to 7 members) may apply. Applicants must complete the online application form and submit a short bio and portrait photo. A maximum of five works created between 2024 and 2026 may be submitted, accompanied by high-quality digital documentation.

Deadline: May 31, 2026 (online submission). The participation fee is 65 EUR for individual artists and 130 EUR for groups.

The biennial’s official program and exhibitions will be on view from September to December 2026 across multiple venues, including the National Gallery of North Macedonia. Selected works will be featured in both the exhibition and the official catalogue.
