Residency Program at A4 in Bratislava

A4 – space for Contemporary Culture in Bratislava announces a residency program for artists working with sound and performance

A4 – Space for Contemporary Culture (A4 – priestor súčasnej kultúry) is announcing its 2026 artist residency program within the framework of the Visegrad Art Residency Program (VARP), with the support of the International Visegrad Fund. The call is open to artists from the Visegrad countries – Czechia, Poland, and Hungary – offering the opportunity to spend one or two months in Bratislava.

The program focuses on two areas of art:

1) The Music&Sound residency offers a two month stay between January 10 and December 31, 2026, during which the selected artist can realize their project in the field of sound art, experimental music, sound or audiovisual performance. Participants will receive a monthly stipend of €1,500 and accommodation, and will be required to give a public presentation at the end of the program.

2) The Performing Arts residency is for a period of one month during the same time frame. Applications are welcome from artists or groups working in innovative, experimental areas of contemporary performing arts: new drama, contemporary dance, new circus, visual theater, physical or alternative theater, and performance art. The scholarship is €2,500 for individual applicants and €5,500 for groups. Accommodation is provided.

Applications must include a short CV, project proposal, and portfolio submitted through A4’s online form.

The application deadline for A4 is October 9, 2025.

(A4 will evaluate the applications by October 13 and notify the winners, who will then have to finalize their applications on the Visegrad Fund website until noon on October 15.)

Details of the application process and further information can be found on the websites of A4 and the page of the International Visegrad Fund here and here.
